2024-mangfei-shu-puer-ancient-tree
2024 Mangfei Shu Pu'er - Old Trees Shu Pu'er

Mangfei village is nestled deep within the mountains of Yongde County, Lincang City, Yunnan, at an altitude of approximately 1,500 meters. It is recognized as one of the "Four Little Dragons" of the Lincang tea region (a prestigious title denoting four standout villages in Lincang celebrated for their premium tea quality and distinct, powerful terroir). Thriving in mildly acidic, nutrient-rich red soil and a primal forest climate, the tea trees here possess a raw, untamed vitality. The body we feel during tasting are direct reflections of this specific cultivar. Tea made from the Mangfei Big-Leaf Cultivar(忙肺大叶种) boasts a high aqueous extract and rich pectin content.

This Shu pu'er is made with leaves of old trees that are more than eighty years old. Upon brewing, the first note captured is a pure, warm and dry cocoa bean aroma, deep and steady. The tea liquor quickly spreads across the entire palate, offering a distinct and noticeable sense of weight on the tongue, revealing a clear roasted walnut aroma intertwined with the flavor and sweetness of almond milk. Its Cha Qi is introverted and mild, providing a deeply calming and grounding sensation after drinking and a gentle warmth in the stomach.

For brewing, we highly recommend using a Jianshui Zitao (Purple Pottery) or an Yixing Zisha teapot. The enclosed space and heat retention provided by these clay teapots perfectly stimulate the aromatic compounds within the shupu, allowing its rich internal substances to fully melt into the tea liquor.

Plantation altitude: 1500 meters
Origin: Mangfei village, Yongde County, Lincang, Yunnan, China
Harvest: Spring 2024
Pressed on: June 6th 2026
Storage: the leaves can be stored in their original package or in ceramic vases. Avoid heat, light, and moisture.

Infusion parameters

EASTERN BREWING
Quantity: 1 gr. of tea every 20 ml of water
Rinse: before starting the infusion, rinse the leaves with a very fast washing in order to let them rehydrate and release a more intense brew.
