Wuyishan: a legacy of rocks and leaves
rock rhyme composers
Peng Bao 彭宝, our rock tea producer, comes from generations of tea trees guardians in Wuyishan park. He is master in the art of 摇青 Yáo qīng, the shaking process that represents the most crucial phase for the production of high quality wulong teas. In this photo, he smiles together with our Vivian while holding the prize he obtained for winning the Gold Medal at the tea competition of Tinaxin Village in 2021.
under the eagle's beak
Peng Bao inherited cultivars of Dahongpao, Rougui, Shuixian, Jinmudan, Huangjingui, and Bairuixiang. They grow right under Yingzui 鹰嘴 peak, named after its resemblance to an eagle's beak, and they absorb the unique mineral flavor that gained rock teas their appreciation and popularity.
following the seasons
The final baking process of rock teas is done by charcoal fire, enriching this tea category of a lingering roasted aroma.
The first roasting is done between May and June, the second happens in August, while the third roasting takes place between October and November.
This is the reason why you won't find a new rock tea harvest on our website before autumn! The enveloping roasting aroma is worth all the wait, and brings a new warmth to the cold season.
