Xinhui Baby Tangerine 柑胎 - Pure fruit infusion
The youngest green tangerine fruits for the most intense and citrusy fragrance, to warm you up in the winter cold.
These baby tangerine fruits are an early treasure of Xinhui, in Guangdong, where the tangerine trees grow for kilometers from hill to hill. Here the season starts in March, when the citrus flowers bloom and fill the air with their sweet perfume. After the flowers fall from the branches, the first baby tangerines - Gan Tai 柑胎 - appear and that's the time when these tiny fruits are picked, between April and July, before they develop the pulp and when their peel is full of aromatic oils.
After drying they retain a very small quantity of sugar that will make a pleasant and comforting tea, rich in the most pure aroma of fresh citrus fruits.
The tangerine fruits picked after this period, from July to September, are called Xiaoqinggan and they are generally used to be filled with shupu tea like our Ganpucha.
Later picked tangerines from this area are used for their precious fragrant peel, that you can taste blended and pressed with an aged white tea in our Chen pi Shoumei.

Storage: this tea can be stored in its original package or in ceramic vases. Avoid heat, light, and moisture.
Quantity: 5gr (about 4/5 pieces) for each teapot
Rinse: before starting the infusion, rinse the fruits with a very fast washing in order to let them rehydrate and release a more intense brew. Gently cover the leaves with boiling water and pour it after a few seconds.
Brewing time: Begin with a 1 minute brew for the first infusion, and continue with a 40-second brew. Increase with each successive brew as needed.

Brewing: put the tea leaves in room temperature water and steep for 7-8 hours. Filter the liquor and drink within 24 hours.
