1992 Tibetan Tea - Kangzhuan 康砖
In June '22 we visited one of our favorite places in China: Ya'an, in central Sichuan, the door between the ancient reigns of China and Tibet, the last flourishing valley where high quality tea was produced and prepared for the transportation through the Himalayan passes, until the Tibetan lamas and royal court.
A Kangzhuan 康砖 Tibetan tea is the highest grade in its category: the finest production techniques, with the best raw materials. Also the the packaging is done with special care, to guarantee the highest outcome through decades of ageing.
Its liquor is bright and clear, and it will surprise how clean and brilliant will feel in your mouth; its 30 years of ageing layered a bouquet of botanical notes that can be found in the studio of a traditional Chinese doctor: mosses, barks, dry herbs of the under forest and slight camphor; little mushrooms typical of Sichuanese and Yunnanese valleys, and cinnamon.

Format: 25 or 50 gr. open brick samples
Storage: the leaves can be stored in their original package or in ceramic vases. Avoid heat, light, and moisture.
Besides the typical gongfucha brewing way, we advice to try boil this leaves: to do so put the 1gr. of leaves every 50-80ml of water and bring it to boiling temperature; after boiled turn off the kettle or the fire, cover the lid and wait five minutes before serving.

Quantity: 1 gr. of tea every 30 ml of water
Rinse: before starting the infusion, rinse the leaves with a very fast washing in order to let them rehydrate and release a more intense brew. Gently cover the leaves with boiling water and pour it after a few seconds.
Brewing time: Begin with a 30-45 second brew. Increase with each successive brew as needed.

In Italy we ship through BRT. In Europe and US we ship through DHL Express courier or UPS; For shipments in Italy, you can select a BRT point where to collect your package, for shipments Europe you can choose a UPS point, and for the US you can choose a DHL service point. In Asia we use EMS.

The ancient trading route to Tibet
Ya 雅 means "elegance", An 安 means peace: these two characters of its name well represents Ya'an, an ancient town surrounded by verdant and steep mountain between the eastern flatlands and the western Tibetan plateau.
Here, tea has been grown for two millennia, and it has been a supplier for the royal courts of China and Tibet for over 1000 years.
We propose a selection of two dark tea, Heicha 黑茶, produced locally following the ancient Tibetan taste driven by lamas and nobles.
Cowhide and original seals
The top two grades of this tea are called Kāngzhuān 康砖 and Jīnjiān 金尖, both based on high quality raw material.
This dark tea is traditionally preserved in 30 Kilograms packages wrapped in cowhide, that in ancient times assured the best protection along the arduous route to Tibet, on the back of horses and yak, and intended for many years of ageing.
Our trusted supplier and collector has a wide archive of the original seals used in the last 70 years: it is the only way to guarantee the authenticity of the older teas, bought in auction at high prices.
Although the appearance appears simple and primitive, it achieved great quality and value: at auction an intact package (about 30KG) value varies from 50,000 to 500,000 RMB.
